碧霞祠：
碧霞祠位于泰山之巅，背靠玉皇顶，西临天街、南天门，这里山势高入云端，碧霞祠常隐藏在云雾之中，远看如天上宫殿，光芒四射，是我国古代高山宫殿建筑代表之作。
碧霞祠创建于北宋大中祥符二年（1009年），宋真宗大中祥符元年（1008年）封泰山时，凿龛雕御女像，次年敕建玉女祠，初名曰“昭真祠”，金代时改称“昭真观”。明朝弘治年间（1488-1505年）改名“灵应宫”。嘉靖时（1522-1565年），在原来的基础上进行了扩建，并改称“碧霞灵佑宫”。明万历四十三年（1615年），铸铜亭，名曰“金阙”，并立《泰山天仙阁金阙》铜碑一座于右前方；明天启五年（1625年）又立《泰山灵佑宫》铜碑一座于左。1615年（明万历四十三年）、清雍正八年（1730年）重加修葺，增建了歌舞楼（南神门）及东西神门阁。清乾隆三十五年（1770年），重修殿堂，为防止高山风雨剥蚀及雷击改正殿为铜顶，大殿盖瓦、鸱吻、檐铃等饰物皆铜铸。
据史料记载，宋真宗东封泰山，还次御帐，在玉女池中洗手，一石人浮出水面，此乃玉女。宋真宗于是下令疏浚该池，用白玉重雕玉女神像，命建祠“昭真祠”，遣使致祭，号为“圣帝之女”，封“天仙玉女碧霞元君”…。
碧霞元君是以华北地区为中心的山神信仰（道教）。是汉族神话传说中的女神，道场在泰山碧霞祠，历经上千年，特别是明清时期以后，对于中国北方地区汉文化产生重大影响。
