Here the "Vinha de Santa Eufémia" once existed. D.Diogo de Sousa, who was due to build several city squares, transformed the place into an extensive public yard. Around it, several buildings emerged: the Seminary of S. Pedro 1571-1572, already disappeared, the Convent of Pópulo dos Eremitas de Santo Agostinho, the Recollection of the Beatas of Santo António, the Convent of Salvador, the Hospital of the Benedictines, and the noble house of Maciéis Aranhas.
