The Battle of Kennesaw Mountain was not Sherman's first large-scale frontal assault of the war, but it was his last.The site of the battle is now part of Kennesaw Mountain National Battlefield Park, where both Confederate deliberate trenches on top of the mountain and some Union rifle pits are still visible today.
