Dar Aziza Bent el-Bey, is located at the lower Casbah.
Its architecture is typcal of Algiers' houses of the 16th century. The palace, a sumptuous construction of Moorish architecture, served as the residence of the governors of Algiers during the Ottoman era.
Today it houses the National Agency for Archeology and Protection of Historic Sites and Monuments. The agency is in charge of the rehabilitation of the Casbah. It hosts also the headquarters of the Office for the Management and Exploitation of Cultural Assets.
