Criccieth Castle - North Wales
Wales

Stormy clouds at Criccieth Castle. Maintained by CADW (Welsh Historic Monuments), Criccieth Castle is thought to date from the 13th century. Although partly a ruin now, it is well worth visiting - a compelling landmark that stands out on the skyline for some distance.

Dolphins can sometimes be seen in the waves below during certain months of the year. Morpha Bychan (black rock sands) can be seen over on the left and Criccieth beach and the town, to the right.

Not too steep climb to the top and there are several resting points along the way where one can admire the view, which to be honest, is impressive no matter which direction you look.
