There is no shortage of pubs in Hertford which is just as well because this one isn't a public house any more. Its frontageis cetainly interesting though. It advises that you can stay and carry out maintenace on your motor caror bicycle. You can even stable your horse. Well I'veused the present tense but of course you can do none of these things anymore. Neither does the towns brewer (erstwhile since the last few years) keep booze in the vualts. Instead there are a few thriving businesses on the premisses.

If you look carefully you will find the Hertford Workingmens Unionist Club on the oposite side of the road. This too remains only as a carved sign. It has long since ceased to serve its original purpose. Interesting though!
