The Channel Itajuru, with 6 km of navigable length, connects the lagoon Araruama the Atlantic Ocean. It is located in the municipalities of São Pedro da Aldeia and mostly in Cabo Frio. Outside the channel extended to oxygenate the Araruama over the death of marine animals caused by low flow and aquifer mainly by untreated sewage released in natura much as in the pond at the edge of the channel.
