Once you go through the temple gates most of this place is illuminated with torches and thousand of candles around the main temple building. With this high overview it's almost like being on the back of the elephant where you can see the musicians playing, thousands of oil lights on the temple and all of the people. Getting this close to the big bull elephants is very risky, as they can reach out with their trunks and grab you.
