SAFARA (Baixo Alentejo)
Portugal
Safara is a parish in the municipality of Moura. Situated on a great plain, and consists of several spacious streets, houses of white shirts, most of which are ground-floor. The Church dates from 1500 and was completed around 1602, when Portugal was under the yoke of the House of Austria. The Church even though it was built, in part, in the reign of King auspices Manuel I, shows the aspect is not the rich architectural style Manueline, because only the columns that make up the ships (one central and two lateral) are that style. The front is 13 m. 27 for background and is situated in a beautiful square in the center of the village, which greatly contributes to greater enhancement of its beauty. At the main entrance and on each side of the door there is a column belonging to the architectural work "composite", junction made by the Romans to Doric and Corinthian architectural works of the Greeks. These columns, as well as the valuable eardrum that support, are made of marble. The Church Within, closed in Gothic arches, brick and tile floors with altars carved work, seems to defy the centuries and is worth visiting.
