Tilted Rock Lava Flow
California

Standing atop one of the high knolls of the Tilted Rock Lava Flow in the Medicine Lake Volcano area of northern California.  The flow is about 1170 years old & sourced from nearby Paint Pot Crater - it does in fact consist of many protruding lava formations that are tilted, or to put it in geologic terms, rafted aggultinate carried from the vents.  Most of this area has been inundated by a more recent eruption which heavily blanketed the area in pumice.
