The town of Belmont, Nevada is listed on the national register of historic places. Founded in 1865 following a silver strike, Belmont once became the county seat of Nye County. The population peaked in the 1870s around 2,000 but faded as the mines & metal values fluctuated. Today there is a small population living here as there are remains of former buildings. Seen here is the brick storage area for explosives at the Combination Mill & stack just east of the center of town.
