20多年前...十大建設中、在關渡大橋的正式通車後，提供了居住於八里地區與竹圍地區往來的運輸管道，也提供了淡水、關渡、北投與台北地區較為安全與便捷的交通方式。因此；渡船的運輸需求減少，不久又有淡水客運及三重客運行駛八里淡水及八里三重與八里台北之間，雖然班次並不密集，但已足夠提供民眾上學及上班安全與便捷的交通工具，於是龍形至竹圍及獅子頭至關渡的兩條渡船路線很快就停擺了、以致兩岸商店一度因生意清淡。
