Completed in 2012, Xiaolin Memorial Park is located in Jiasian District, covering an area of approximately 1.7 hectares, offering villagers and visitors a venue to pay tribute and commemorate the 462 victims of the landslides resulted form the heavy rain caused by Typhoon Morakot. Xiaolin Memorial Park is planned under five aspects of culture and history, ecology and landscape, transportation, disaster memory and sustainable operation. The park includes a memorial plaza, an ancestral shrine, a path with both sides engraved the names of the deceased, a tower, a meditation bridge and a nine-meter-high monument piled by stones, etc. The park overlooks the remains of Siaolin Village in 500 meters away, hoping to empower villagers with renewal and reconstruction as they pay tribute to the dead.
