Alpinum Schatzalp Botanical Garden 6
Grisons

The Garten Alpinum Schatzalp botanical garden is privately run by the Berghotel Schatzalp, at around 1,800 m above sea level with approx. 5000 different species of mountain plants from all over the world covering a total area of about 5 hectares. Several different habitats merge to form a variety of locations for plant collections such as edelweiss, gentians, hyacinths, bluebells and more.

The historic Alpinum was first mentioned in a newspaper article in 1907. At that time, this part of the garden served as a place of relaxation for patients. Here they were able to marvel at the diversity of the neighboring Strela mountain range and use it for recovery.

Today, this part of the garden, which is free to visit, is the heart of our lower garden area, along with the Big Five Garden.

In the Big Five Garden, we planted part of the collection of 5 large-flowered perennials. In the heart of the lower gardens, you can admire irises (Iris), peonies (Paeonia), lilies (Hemerocallis), delphiniums (Larkspur) and Turkish poppies (Papaver) in all their glory from June to October, along with many complementary and additional plants. The winding, small paths make this hillside garden something very special, especially at night. Discover this diversity of horticultural cultivation for free on the south side of the hotel.
