Царёв курган, вид на реку Сок (panorobot.ru)

Царёв курган в Самарской области, в Жигулях, представляет собой холм около впадения Сока в Волгу. Как и на всей территории Самарской Луки, природное окружение кургана уникально, ведь кроме сочетания разных степных зон здесь сохранились элементы доледниковой растительности.

Издавна множество легенд, говорящих о кладе в кургане и о его рукотворном происхождении, а также необычная ровная куполообразная форма привлекали сюда археологов. Однако методами археологии удалось лишь установить, что в кургане присутствуют большие пустоты и что ранее вершина горы была покрыта белыми плитами, которые затем были использованы при строительстве моста через Волгу
