The Museum is housed within a former fort, built at the turn of the 20th century. The building later served as a prison.
Among the displays housed at the Himeville Museum are historical household goods and clothing, wartime memoribilia, displays on local communities including the Bushmen and Bhaca as well as Stone Age artifacts and farming implements.
The Museum is situated on the main road running through the town of Himeville and is well worth a visit. Entrance to the Museum is free of charge.
