Guanyin Lake, formerly called Governor Lake, is located in Renwu District, Kaohsiung. Former President Chiang Kai-shek visited the lake in January 20, 1969, and stunned by the beautiful mountain and scenery, he renamed it to Guanyin Lake. The lake has a total area of 142 hectares with inner and outer parts. The outer part of the lake is shallower and easy to dry out. The inner part of the lake is deeper and wider and clearer water. The lake is one of the water sources for the Renwu area and local residents enjoy fishing and hiking amid its pleasant and greenish scenery.
