The town of Kalofer is located on both banks of the Tundzha River, between the Balkan Mountains and Sredna Gora. Botev Peak rises above the town - the highest in the Balkan Mountains. Kalofer is the hometown of the great Bulgarian poet and revolutionary Hristo Botev. A museum has been built on the site where the last house of the Bot family was built.
The museum complex is located in the Botev City Garden and includes: the Memorial House-Museum, the exhibition hall, the monument to Hristo Botev, and the monument to Ivanka Boteva - the poet's mother. The memorial house-museum presents the authentic setting in which Botev grew up. The exhibition hall stores personal belongings, documents, publications, art objects and other materials related to the life and work of Hristo Botev, his family and associates.
