A 400' aerial view from above Hambone Island, a forested kipuka near Bartle, California. The lava flow covers much of the vast plains in the area & its boundary can be distinguished by the vegegation. Elevated areas have more tree cover while sparser areas are where plants are slowly making a foothold in the lava plains.
