The Freedom Bridge has a small but important place in the national battle in the period from 1865 to 1920. Here the north Schleswigers crossed the kongeaaen when they were to meet in Skibelund Crate.
The bridge was originally a sparse wooden bridge, only suitable for pedestrian traffic. In 1922 it was replaced by the current solid stone bridge.
