This summit shot was taken 4/18/2015 from the top of Mount Rixford in Kings Canyon National Park. A beautiful clear day helped make the arduous climb up loose rock and patchy snow worthwhile, and I lingered on top for quite some time taking in the expansive views.

To the north lies Rae Lakes basin, and the John Muir Trail, also one of the most popular loop hikes in the Sierra. To the south is Kearsarge basin where the approach was made from.
