Einmalig und einzigartig ist er nicht nur durch seine luftige architektonische Form, sondern auch durch die Art und Weise, wie der Turm um die Bäume in seinem Inneren gebaut ist.
Über 500m windet sich die Rampe im Inneren des Turmes nach oben und gewährt so faszinierende Einblicke in das Leben der Waldriesen, buchstäblich von der Wurzel bis zum Wipfel.
Der Pfad ist natürlich auch hier barrierefrei gebaut, eine maximale Steigung von 2 bis 6% sorgt für bequemen und leichten Aufstieg.
Auf der 44m hohen Plattform angekommen, wird man mit einem unvergleichlichen Ausblick belohnt. Der Nationalpark Bayerischer Wald liegt einem förmlich zu Füßen. Über Rachel und Lusen hinaus breitet sich das Waldmeer des Bayerischen Waldes und des Böhmerwaldes über mehrere hundert Kilometer aus.
An klaren Tagen sieht man von der Plattform sogar den nördlichen Alpenhauptkamm.
Mit dem Rollstuhl kann man die zweite Plattform in ca. 40m Höhe erreichen, die vergleichbare Ausblicke bietet.
Aufgrund seiner luftigen Eiform hat sich bei den Besuchern schnell der Begriff "Baumei" etabliert. Manche Besucher haben aufgrund der Bauweise auch schon Vergleiche mit dem Berliner Reichstag herangezogen.
In jedem Fall aber bietet der Baumturm aber Erlebnisse und Ausblicke der ganz besonderen Art!
