Neimen Zihjhu Temple, Neimen
Taiwan

According to the Taiwan County Gazetteer, Neimen Zihjhu Temple was erected in 1733 and underwent numerous repairs and constructions over the past 300 years before becoming what it is today. In the 7th year of Emperor Qianlong’s reign in the Qing Dynasty, Captain General of the Navy, Wu, Bi-Da, went past this temple. Amazed by the huge crowd of its followers, he gave a tablet inscribed with “Zih Jhu Sheng Chun” (purple bamboos bring the spring). This was when the temple was officially named Zihjhu Temple. The temple is protected by the mountains, which adds a spiritual atmosphere. It is not only the religious center in Neimen, but also a major temple for the belief of the Goddess of Mercy in Taiwan. An endless stream of followers and believers from different corners of the country can be seen on every major holiday.
