Not Much Left - Jacob's Pool
Arizona

Jacob Hamblin, an early Morman settler and historic figure, built several outposts between Lee's Ferry and St. George, UT. Jacob's Pool was a stop for many settlers and travelers as they traveled between Kaibab, UT, Lee's Ferry, and St. George, UT.  This particular site is located directly below the Vermilion Cliffs where several springs emanate from the bottom of the cliffs.  A large reservoir was dug behind this building and water was piped from the springs to fill the reservoir, which is now dry and filled with sagebrush. What is left of this building, the dry reservoir, and some broken down corrals are all that remain here.

The rest stop twenty five miles west of Lee's Ferry, as well as about fifteen miles due north of South Canyon (a feeder into the Grand Canyon and Colorado River). To the southeast, it is about nine miles to Rider Canyon, (the outlet of House Rock Valley), another feeder into the Grand Canyon.

As you look at the opening view, the high Vermilion Cliffs are on the right side of the building.  Far behind the left side of the building are the mountains of the Kaibab Plateau.
