The Phoenix Museum of History traces the history of Phoenix from the arrival of the first white settlers until the present day.

The museum is funded mainly by gifts and grants, along with a small allocation from the Phoenix City Council. With the current global financial recession gifts and grants have virtually dried up and the city council voted to end any funding for the museum. As a result of this the museum will cease operating on June 30, 2009.
