Centred with a 42 metre high mast, Swansea’s £2,000,000 Sail Bridge connects the city’s marina with the new SA1 Waterfront Development, on the site of the Swansea Docks. The bridge, which spans the River Tawe near the Dylan Thomas Centre, was designed as an emblem for the regeneration of the Port of Swansea. Though it is structured as a classic symmetric cable-supported design, as you walk on it you notice that the deck is held along only one edge. The simplicity of the bridge’s design is complemented by the elegance of the asymmetrically suspended walkway.
