The finally crushed ore drops from above and goes along this small home made conveyor were it then drops into the mercury retort. Located in the Round Mountain Mining district, in a small canyon high in the Toquima Range, the Senator Mine, also known as the Red Bird Mine, was a Mercury mine that produced 137 flasks of mercury through 1965. The camp was completely abandoned in 1968.
