The Hristo Botev memorial in his hometown of Kalofer is located on a hill next to the town center and the town square, with a panoramic view of the whole town from the square below the statue of Botev.
The design for this building was created in 1986.
The memorial consists of a full-length figure of Hristo Botev made of granite. The figure of the poet is 14.4 meters high, and together with the sculptural pedestal, also made of granite, the height reaches an impressive 25 meters.
Near the main statue, the "200 pyshchies" monument is located as a tribute to all the participants of Botev's Cheka. At the foot of Botev's memorial is a 3.2 metre high relief of a Bulgarian lion, also carved from granite, which greatly enhances the patriotic message of the memorial.
Viewed from the square or from the shore, the full-length memorial to the poet gives the impression of Botev as the guardian of his hometown, a great man who will always be on duty. The Hristo Botev memorial complex in Kalofer is one of the places every Bulgarian should visit.
