Monastery of Vrontochion

Saints Theodoroi (1290-1295) and the Virgin Hodegetria (Aphentiko) comprised the fortified Vrontochion Monastery, a magnificent work built by the abbot Pachomius. The Hodegetria preserves exceptionally high-quality frescos (1312-1322), some of which are linked with the art of Constantinople.
