第一區包括薑石、冰淇淋石、溶蝕盤、鯉魚石與燭臺石等。像是「沙棒化石」，有可能是生物的活動痕跡或是排泄物，是屬於「生痕化石」的一種。

至於「沙錢化石」，是「海膽」變成的，所以「動物」或「植物」的化石，我們稱它做「實體化石」。
