The former 18th century hall chapel is called King´s Hall for it contains polychrome terracotta sculptures representing the kings of Portugal from Afonso Henriques to King José. The work is commonly attributed to the potter-monks of the Monastery. The ensamble is completed by an allegory of the coronation of King Afonso Henriques by Pope Alexander III and St. Bernard. The 18th century panels of painted azulejo tiles on the walls recount the legend of the monastic foundation.
