A 100' aerial view over Dorris, California at the north end of the Butte Valley. The last town along Highway 97 before the Oregon state line, it was incorporated in 1908 & named after two brothers with the last name Dorris who worked on the railroad. The town is noted for its 200 foot flagpole, which was the tallest flagpole west of the Mississippi River until one was erected in Laredo, Texas in 2002. The tallest flagpole in America is twice as tall as the Dorris one, located in Sheboygan, Wisconsin.
