The “Blessing of Meat”, in german “Fleischweihe” is an old easter rites performed as a popular tradition since the High Middle Ages include the blessing of fire and of various articles of food as symbols of the natural and metaphysical renewal of life. A common seeing there is a wattled basket with the meat (mostly ham) and a cake called “Reindling”, with a small white blanket with crosses embroidered.
