Banco Mat / Banca Nazion. Art exhibition in Piazza Garraffello, La Vucciria, Palermo, Sicily
Palerme - Sicily

'Banco Mat / Banca Nazion' in Piazza Garraffello, La Vucciria, Palermo. An installation / exhibition which runs 28 April-26 June 2016, this is part of an ongoing series of works by the Austrian artist Uwe Jäntsch, pictured here.

Uwe, a long-term resident in and around the piazza, has used the buildings and space in Piazza Garraffello as a living, evolving canvas over the last decade. His works reflect many themes; documenting and commenting on corruption, commerce, gentrification, change, disruption, history, architecture, sex and more.

I met him and his partner Costanza in this space, and was eager to capture the artist in the midst of his 'studio' close to the famous 'La Vucciria' market in Palermo. He's a fascinating, charming guy with deep knowledge, strong opinions and a very clear and independent artistic vision. I'm sure his work here will continue to evolve and develop on the walls of this mediaeval square until he is forced to move on. I certainly hope so.

Uwe ti ama.
