Boojum Tree, Desert Botanical Gardens, Phoenix, Arizona
Arizona
the Boojum tree (Fouquieria columnaris) is one of the most bizarre plants in the world. A native of Baja California, this plant appears to be growing up-side-down, with roots in the air. The branches a covered with leaves only during seasons of plentiful rain fall. Located on over 50 acres of Papago Park in east Phoenix, Arizona, the Desert Botanical Garden is world famous for its collection of desert plants including many rare species. The Garden has daily tours and activities. It is a lovely place to visit any time of the year.
