Burgar hill, Evie, Orkney
Scotland

There have been wind turbines on Burgar Hill since 1983. The site is mainly an experimental site where offshore turbines can be tested with easy access. The hill to the north is Costa Hill where Orkney's first wind turbine was built. It was a 100kw unit built in he early 1950s and was blown down in 1953.

To the east is Eynhallow and Rousay with Westray visible on the horizon. Red throated divers nest around the lochans on the top of the hill and Hen harriers can be found nesting in the heather.
