Cabo De La Vela La Guajira
Colombia

Colombia is a country full of natural wonders, spectacular scenery, magic and mystery filled sites hidden in the most remote places worth visiting although often reach them can be considered an extraordinary adventure of the high level of abandonment our regions suffer, poor access roads and large areas of extreme poverty suffered by the people that make living in them can become epic stories deserve to be told.

Regions such as the Amazon, the Serrania de la Macarena, Caño Cristales, Desert Tatacoa, snowcapped mountains, moors and valleys, rugged mountains, beautiful beaches hidden in the two oceans that nature gave us, are examples of how much we have but often we do not appreciate. Today narrate them a trip you make to the Alta Guajira, a magical and dreamy region, surrounded by a desert cooking raw and strikes the eye but does not allow faint, because as you progress through the tortuous paths cover this difficult region deserts, every turn of the road, the scenery changes, and although it seemed repeated for he who knows not see, are actually new world that demonstrate that this land is harsh and unforgiving, but for humans, especially for Ethnicity Wayuu who inhabit the aptly named "Sandman" are the only beings capable of living there, showing it gives, of loving a land which many would leave fleeing, but is their homeland, the land of their ancestors, and the only land they have to offer future generations.

I invite both of these lines to live a magical, difficult world, but full of color and adventure, magic and epic visit to the Alta Guajira Colombiana.

CABO DE LA VELA

Generally arrival at Cabo de la Vela can be considered easily accessible in summer, the journey takes about 2 ½ hours and is at a distance from Riohacha approximately 156 km, considering the paved road is used Riohacha to 4 routes (via Maicao), and thence to Uribía, where you can tank the vehicle. Hence the private road which is Cerrejon level causeway leading to Puerto Bolívar, and which make it routine maintenance is used. To access the Cabo de la Vela diverted several points, the best is taking salinetas of Calancala, an extremely flat land of nearly two kilometers wide and with a distance of about 21 kilometers (summer only) in which it seems you can fly.

In the place there are many inns for all tastes and prices, you can sleep in rooms or in hammocks, enjoy various seafood dishes ranging from red snapper, sierra, sea bass or mullet, shrimp rice, shrimp, or enjoy a delicious lobster at prices that make you want to laugh at low prices.

Worth up early and go to see the sunrise, watch the sun rise lazily in the sky begins to brighten shooing cold nights out, surrounded by a thin mist that slowly unfolds the distant horizon, or watch the sunsets vivid orange colors, watch as the sun dips and shameless fight in the ocean in a mixture of water and fire which seems to lose the fight, but the next day like a phoenix reborn to continue the days of life this beautiful region.

At night, you can lie on the beach to watch the myriad stars in the sky are we denied them in the cities, a mostly cloudless sky, under moonlight reveals to the far horizon and invites dreaming.

On the day you can visit El Faro, the Ojo de Agua, the pylon Sugar, walking the cliffs where the sea seems to desire heartbreaking against the rocks, but in the side of the cape seems to be a mirror that lets you see the soul.

The Cape's Verla is a sacred site for the Wayuu, is a superhuman place, composed of spirits of the Wayuu, which his family of flesh and blood are manifested through dreams during the interim period before reaching the final resting on Jepirra.

When it does wayúu dies forever. Goes into the "state of life" in which his aa'in (soul) will manifest through dreams (Lapu) of his closest maternal relatives (apüshi) and paternal (oupayu). This practice will manifest their families certain precautions, illness, periods of drought, problems with other clans, or despair to be buried forever, which fully influence the way of being and daily life of the individual and the eirrükü (clan) which is part.

The Cabo de la Vela is the place of transit of these souls to another world, a place of rest called Jepirra, somewhere between the sea, sky and land very close to Cabo, therefore, the Cape of Vela is a point to deeply compenetrase with the Wayuu culture.

For those who like extreme sports, there are three schools of Kite-Surf and can be purchased at fair prices the beautiful handicrafts and colorful symbols of the Wayuu, blankets and woven bags or the wonderful hammocks invite you to rest
