View from Eira do Serrado to Curral das Freiras, Madeira
Portugal

Curral das Freiras - also known as Valley of the Nuns - is a parish in the district of Câmara de Lobos in the Madeira Islands.

The mountains encircle the village in which are partially forested except further north. Madeira's tallest mountain, Pico Ruivo lies to the east. Some residential houses are cut off from the main roads. Vineyards on the steep hillsides encircling the parish produce grapes for Madeira wine.
