Entrance to White Temple Wat Rong Khun in Chiang Rai, Thailand
Thailand
Wat Rong Khun, also known as the White Temple, stands as a prominent Buddhist temple in Chiang Rai Province, Thailand. Drawing in a considerable number of visitors, both local and international, this temple outside Chiang Rai town ranks among the city’s top attractions. Master Chalermchai Kositpipat, a national artist, conceived, constructed, and opened the White Temple to the public in 1997. The temple's main structure comprises a basic concrete framework and a wooden roof. From a distance, it gives the illusion of being crafted from gleaming porcelain, but upon closer examination, the stunning effect is revealed to be a combination of whitewash and transparent mirrored chips. The exterior surfaces are embellished with white plaster and integrated glass inserts.
