Heusden is a restored fortified city in the Dutch municipality of Heusden (province of Noord-Brabant), located on the Bergsche Maas. It has approximately 1500 inhabitants (2007). In 1968 a start was made on restoring the fortified town of Heusden in the old style. This large-scale restoration project ran for 40 years. Heusden is the capital of the Land of Heusden. Closest cities are Waalwijk southwest of Heusden and 's-Hertogenbosch in the east.
