Located at the top of Hunter Mountain the Fire Tower reaches an elevation of 4040' making this a great spot to locate wild fire's....  Because of the local elements from resent  weather my view was completely blocked...  Even after cleaning the windows the cold breeze would just freeze them instantly. It was nice to see fresh wild cat tracks in the snow. Life is still booming in this nature preserve.... What's truly interesting about this is the map located within...  Missing the tool to calculate distant fire's......

 I don't count slide Mountain as the being highest point in the catskills...  To me this is the highest point because it located on the Plateau, the heart of it..   The great Northern Catskills.  And it's true you can see Kaaterskill Falls from the tower.
