The Keddie Resort is located in Keddie, California.  Cabins, numbered 1-45 were constructed here although more than half of them are now gone or left abandoned.  Cabin #28 (demolished in 2004) was the site of an infamous quadruple homicide that occurred during the night of April 11-12, 1981.  The victims were Sue Sharp, John Sharp, Tina Sharp, & Dana Wingate.  Sue's 14 year old daughter Sheila, who had been sleeping at a friend's house at Cabin 27, arrived at Cabin 28 at 7am on April 12 to find Sue, John, & Dana lying on the living room floor bludgeoned to death by a hammer as well as stabbed & strangled.  All were tied up w/ electrical cords & medical tape.  Sue's three younger children were asleep in an adjacent room & were unharmed, initially reported as having slept through the murders though the claim was later contradicted.  Neighbors did report hearing muffled screams during the murders but instead went back to sleep.  Tina was reported as kidnapped & no other information about her was known until her skull was found by a bottle collector a few years later in 1984 about 100 miles away at Camp Eighteen near Feather Falls, California.

The case could have been solved at the time except due to negligence & crucial mistakes it has remained over 40 years unsolved.  Two possible suspects have been the key focus, Martin Smartt & John Boudebe.  Both are deceased today however it has been speculated that Smartt was involved in a love triangle w/ Sue Sharp.  In 2016, a hammer was recovered within a pond close to Cabin 28, matching an exact hammer missing from one of the suspects.  Rusted & missing DNA, it was noted that it was not placed there by accident.  Today, detectives are convinced they are close to solving it & in April 2018, additional DNA has been matched to a living known suspect however not much further information has been revealed.
