Crater Glass Flow - Pumice Crater (aerial)
California

This view shows the Crater Glass Flow on the north flank of the Medicine Lake Volcano, California.  The pumice crater formed about 1,000 years ago from an eruption & the obsidian eruption came from a less violent eruption.  Within the area are a couple of faults that have distinct red cinder deposits capped with white pumice.  The background forest burned from the Antelope Fire.  The fire began from a lightning strike on August 1, 2021 south of Tennant, California & lasted to October 15, 2021, burning a total of 145,632 acres.
