Scott Bar fire lookout (exterior)[2]
California

A view of the Scott Bar fire lookout near Scott Bar, California.  It is located on a west precipice of Anderson Peak.  It was built by the Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC) in 1934 but in recent years has been left abandoned & falling apart.  Here views include Boulder Peak to the south & its subsidiary peaks, Kings Castle area, Lake Mountain & Tom Martin Peak, plus distant northeast views of Mt. Ashland & the snowy top of Mt. McLoughlin.  Recent snow had blocked the road in sections which made it awful for my car of little horsepower, so I biked the remainder.  The main lookout cab is on top w/ an inaccessible stairway & the living quarters is directly below.
