A detour borne of the lack of desire to retrace our steps over a particularly tough pass (Pyra Queen Col) led us to instead traverse into Picket Guard basin where we climbed down to the Colby Pass Trail. This overview was at the front of the descent, and provided us with striking views down into the glacier-carved Kern-Kaweah valley.
