Palácio da Pena Entrance
Portugal

The Pena Palace is situated on top of the Serra de Sintra, about 500 meters of altitude, in Portugal, Europe. It was inspired by the romantic castles of Bavaria, and addiction the various styles and influences, Gothic, Moorish, neo-Manueline and Arabs, built in 1839 by D. Ferdinand of Saxe-Coburg-Gotha, husband of Queen Maria II for summer residence. It is of the most remarkable and fine monument of Portuguese Romantic architecture.

In 1995, UNESCO classified the Palace and the Parque da Pena, as components of the Cultural Landscape of Sintra, a World Heritage.
