This photo was taken at Kripidoma in Chalkida, Evia Island right outside 'The House of Statues' and close to 'The Red House'. The first is the house of Dimitris Mallios built is 1891 and is an historical monument which has 11 statues that decorate it and numerous wall paintings which are preserved by the Greek Archaeological Society. It is said that during a particular renovation 11 human skeletons were found under the floors. The later is also owned by the same person as the first and was built in 1884 right on top of a Muslim house of worship and sits on a rock which has 3 sides towards the sea. During the second world war the German army used this house as a base of operations. Later it was donated to the city and is used today as a cultural meeting place where often are held various exhibitions of works of art such as paintings, photography, sculptures and handmade jewelry.
