Refuse collector, Kota, Batavia, Jakarta, Indonesia.

Kota or Old Jakarta, also known as Old Batavia is a small area in Jakarta which retains its Dutch character. Batavia, because of its location, was the centre of commerce for the continent. The area is now a heritage site. Many of the building are in need of repair. There are many refuse collectors working in the streets of the city. This collector takes rubbish to a deserted and gutted building, situated on the canal at Jalan Kali Besar Timur. The recyclable materials are sorted, bagged and then sold.
