La chiesa di S. Giorgio si trova all’estremità ovest di Moneglia, sotto il castello di Monleone. La chiesa, a tre navate, costruita nel 1396 a seguito di un lascito testamentario, fu affidata fino all’inizio del 1484 ai monaci Benedettini (giunti a Moneglia nel secolo XIV).
Il 9 gennaio 1484 ai monaci Benedettini subentrarono i Frati Minori Francescani, che costruirono l’annesso convento con il chiostro molto apprezzato da Agostino Giustiniani ( a destra, entrando, si trova un bassorilievo marmoreo del 1455 e di fronte una campana di bronzo del 1374).
All’inizio del XVIII secolo la chiesa subì una parziale trasformazione. Dopo la soppressione degli Ordini religiosi, divenne Parrocchiale nella prima metà del ‘900.
Al suo interno conserva opere di grande valore, tra cui il gruppo ligneo di San Giorgio e il Drago, della scuola del Maragliano; il polittico di Giovanni da Pisa dedicato a San Lorenzo, databile tra la fine del '300 e primissimi anni del '400; il polittico dedicato a San Ludovico da Tolosa ed eseguito nei primi anni del '500 da Giovanni Barbagelata, "L'adorazione dei Magi" di Luca Cambiaso e il dipinto raffigurante "San Giorgio che uccide il drago", situato nella volta superiore del presbiterio e attribuito a Rubens.
Adiacente si trova un bel chiostro, eretto dai frati francescani grazie all’intercessione presso il Pontefice Sisto IV dell’allora doge della Repubblica di Genova Paolo Campofregoso, arcivescovo di Genova. Dopo il definitivo abbandono dei frati nella metà dell’Ottocento, oggi la struttura è stata convertita in un esclusivo bed & breakfast.
