The village of Kotuku used to have a schoolhouse before the days of buses and centralised schools, and it also had an imaginative teacher. he planned and built, with the pupils, a minature house that still stands as a testament to his skill.

It is a tourist destination however what appealed to me was this tree that seemed to have its own forest growing on its branches. Who can spot the native pigeon resting on one branch?
